How to convert land units in India

Convert Bigha, Katha, Decimal, Acre and other Indian land units while checking the state, local factor and official land record.

01

First identify the place

Acre, square metre and square foot have standard sizes. Bigha, Katha and some other names can represent different areas in different states, districts or settlement systems.

02

Check the conversion factor

Choose the state and read the factor shown by the calculator. If your deed or local land office uses a different factor, use that verified local value instead of a general table.

03

Use one standard area as the bridge

A conversion can first turn the source unit into square feet, then divide by the target unit's square-foot factor. This makes the factor and calculation easy to inspect.

04

Verify legal measurements

An online conversion does not prove ownership, boundaries or official area. The registered deed, survey map and current government land record take precedence. Ask the relevant local authority or survey professional when the decision is legal or financial.
